Parametric Outlines

Building outlines stayed the same for all projects, but with a near infinite LxWxHxPitch combination for each project. . The previous process was to start with a similar project and edit. But that often introduced error. The solution was to create a parametrically driven building outline that would drive building size and shape. From there doors, windows, and vents could be added with the gaps filled in with panels. The values driven by the parameters could then be used to estimate quantities by area, including liner, insulation, and vapor barriers.

Adjustable Sections

Building Section views were also crucial to manufacturing documents. The elements of a section view were divided up into roof section, wall sections, and truss. The values for each of these, whether it were building width, wall width, cieling width, etc, could all be entered into the properties tab for each block. This eliminated the need to find similar sections from similar projects and streamlining the section view creation. All of the section view elements were stored in a library tool palette that was accessible to all CAD users for ease of use.

Dynamic Blocks

Panel Layouts took up the most amount of time, and required the most amount of custom work. The panels general fell into 5 different types. A dynamic block was made for each type, and the limitations for those types (max width, bend profiles, etc) were built into the blocks. Additionally, the dimensions for those panels were included and set to print at an annotative scale, so the dims were already included instead of added 'by hand'
